Double Cleansing - a secret to maintaining healthy skin!

Double cleansing is a Korean beauty (K-beauty) skin care ritual in which you cleanse your face twice to get a deeper clean.

It begins with using an oil cleanser first and then follows up with a water or gel based cleanser second.

“Why do I need two cleansers,” you might ask?

At first glance, double cleansing may seem counterproductive for oily or sensitive skin. However, it’s not.

Oil attracts oil — making an oil cleanser the most effective way to break down grime, oil, sunscreen, and makeup in one fell swoop. It will remove any debris that a water-based cleanser wouldn't "grab" because water and oil don't mix.

Following up with the water or gel cleanser allows you to remove any remaining impurities and residue, without drying out your skin. Winning!

Ready to give double-cleansing a try? Here's how to do it:

  1. Begin with clean hands and dry skin.
  2. Next, grab an oil-based cleanser such as the Yangu Beauty Gentle Renewal Oil. Massage the oil into your face for about a minute then rinse with warm water.
  3. Last, wash your face as normal with a gel or water based cleanser. Rinse with warm water.
After double cleansing, continue with the rest of your skin care routine.
